Course Rationale Our empowerment is designed to provide attendees with strategies, concepts and knowledge necessary in improving Social Etiquette. Moreover, to challenge attendees to evaluate their current behavior, make an honest assessment, and commit to building techniques that will enhance their overall quality of living. Results will vary based on individual commitment and effort. What is Bullying? 1. Deliberate and hurtful behavior. 2. Behavior that is often repeated over a period of time toward the same person(s) 3. Action against a person who may not be able to defend himself/herself 4. Action taken by a person who typically desires to exercise power inappropriately over his/her victims Types of Bullying: 1. Physical - hitting, punching, shoving 2. Verbal - name-calling, teasing 3. Social - spreading rumors, leaving people out on purpose, breaking up friendships 4. Cyberbullying - using the internet, mobile phones or other digital technologies to harm others What Can I Do? * Speak up, tell the bully to STOP! * Recognize bullying when you see it * Don't join in * Be a friend * Find help, tell someone.
